An individual who spiked treats with sedative and distributed them to minors at a youth camp in the region has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two children who were between nine and ten.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was held in detention before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the children "repeatedly", and children had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.
The prosecutor added: "Recently" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor stated materials including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his stepchild alerted the police about his worries.
She explained the defendant continued to conduct the "treat game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The prosecutor explained the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the stepson notified the police a second time.
She said the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five children.
